Activities & Events
The Getty Villa
17985 Pacific Coast Highway, Pacific Palisades | (310) 440-7300
No offense to the big papa Getty but with its lush gardens and breezy Roman pavilions, The Villa is where our heart is. Be sure to catch one of the enlightening free tours during your visit – the Culinary Garden Tour is our personal favorite.
Sunday in the Palisades
1037 N Swarthmore Avenue, Pacific Palisades | (818) 591-8161
We’re hardly the first to praise the Sunday ritual of LA Farmer’s Markets, so we’ll add our two cents to the idea bank. There is nothing better than a fresh pain au chocolat and pitch perfect cappuccino from Maison Giraud before perusing the fragrant stalls where you’ll find exotic lobster mushrooms alongside the fresh pressed almond milk. From there, we duck in to check out Catherine Giraud’s latest Provence-procured wares at nearby shop Lavender Blue. For weekend overachievers, the Temescal Canyon Loop hike is as strenuous as it is rewarding with a natural waterfall and ocean views along your route to the top.
Shopping Montana Avenue
920 Montana Avenue, Santa Monica | (310) 260-1966
Quaint, tree-lined and abundantly walkable, Montana Avenue gets a gold star in the neighborhood shopping category. Park on any number of the cottage-lined side streets and browse a number of luxe but unintimidating boutiques like trendy Jill Roberts, leather goods master Clare V. and lingerie heaven Only Hearts. Grab sandwiches, a coffee (and try futilely to resist the famed triple berry shortcake) at Sweet Lady Jane before heading to our favorite Williams-Sonoma outpost and Rooms & Gardens for a little sensory retail therapy. Cap off your stroll with a pretty pedi at Bellacures.
