A Coastal LA-Inspired Gathering

Al Fresco

Growing up, the closing of the weekend was signaled by a family style Sunday Dinner. Some forty Sundays a year, this tradition was honored outdoors, sitting around a courtyard table beneath a towering olive tree. Many lessons were learned observing and participating in the entertaining rituals on those days: First, food should be seasonal and full of flavor. Second, a seemingly endless flow of unapologetically bold wine encourages lingering. And third, the unhurried ease of sharing a meal while savoring the night breeze makes everyone feel a little bit more like family. The casual authenticity of these evenings was your tacit pact that, if only for the moment, you were living life well. To a certain extent, that is what ‘gathering’ is all about: enjoying the bounty of the moment while it is before you.

THE BACKYARD SUPPER MENU
Hello!

Gather Gimlets + Ricotta with Figs

Inspired by our friends at Rustic Canyon, this tangy, refreshing cocktail pairs perfectly with the lightness of homemade ricotta and the sweetness of the figs.

Have A Seat

Farmer’s Market Salad + Spicy Shrimp Pasta + California Red Wine

Inspired by the stockpiles of fresh produce at the Pacific Palisades Farmers Market, the fresh catches at bustling Santa Monica Seafood and the round richness of a bold Napa Valley red, this family style meal passes easily around a picnic table.

Wind Down

California Cheese & Chocolate Plate + Scotch & Sparkling Station

Inspired by the unmistakably creamy cheeses of Marin County, our favorite Malibu chocolatier, the sparkle of a great blanc de blanc and the smoke of an aging favorite, this self-serve dessert course is easy enough to pull together outdoors under the stars or in your living room curled up on the couch.

THE COLORS

HYDRANGEA         –         LEMON         –          EUCALYPTUS          –         PACIFIC BLUE

THE FLORALS + CENTERPIECE

Try low bunches of white hydrangea in mason jars, small pitchers or delicate drinking glasses. For a centerpiece, pile ripe yellow lemons into a simple glass bowl and place olive or eucalyptus branches down the table’s center for a natural tablescape. Finally, light a few low votives for a little festivity.

A neutral, textured runner lends an easy elegance to casual gatherings whether indoors or out. Add clean white dinnerware, casual linen napkins, gleaming flatware and bordeaux stemware with rather generous proportions and the table is set!
